DOS

DOS (Drones On Spot) is a Master's Major Project. The subject was called 'Design for Good' meaning that each project developed and designed had to give something back to both the planet and the people.

In this case, DOS is a project with the goal to reduce the number of drownings in NSW beaches. After doing extensive market research and interviewing some experts, I arrived at the solution of using Drones as a method to deliver flotation devices to swimmers who were in danger.

The research showed that there were other companies incorporating Drones to deliver a floatation aid to swimmers who were in danger. The problem was that sometimes the flotation aid was delivered a few meters far from the casualty. Therefore, it was useless.

The question was, how to deliver the flotation aid exactly where the casualty is?

Here is when tracking bracelets take place. Each swimmer can either buy or rent a tracking bracelet that has an SOS button to be pressed when stressed or on danger. That activates the Drone to fly to the pinpoint to deliver the flotations aid.

The bracelet could be rent or purchased at some stores or online.

In addition, a mobile app was designed with the intention for anyone to be informed about weather and water conditions,  safety tips, as well as bracelet instructions.
